First Time Paint – Fiberglass boat

  •  Gel coat is laden with a shiny wax surface that must be removed by petroleum solvent washing, soapy washing and acid washing; then sanding – with a final washing to validate no gloss or oil/wax residue is present –
    • this cost is charged by the hour; beyond normal bottom preparation; depending on the make and material expect this cost to be between $56 / $80 per foot… it is time consuming to properly prepare a new hull correctly.
  • a waterline requires establishment; if none exists, then we must establish one
    • If the boat has a scum line from previous service we will use this
    • otherwise the boat may have to launch for waterline establishment
  • Unless otherwise notified
    • The new waterline will be about 3″ higher than the static waterline
    • No boot stripe adjustment is included, unless specifically included in the work order
  • Consulting regarding a barrier coat can be considered;
    • we only recommend this application on a completely dry hull, if ever.
